Shelly - Adopted!

Age: 18 mo. to 2 years
Weight: 66 lbs
Health: She's now spayed and fully vaccinated; she tested negative for heartworms and is ready to go to her forever home!

You must meet this dog! Shelly is simply a doll and we are so glad to have her in New England. This poor thing was boarded for almost a year at our veterinary clinic because we were unsure about how she would do with other dogs. Talk about proving us wrong! Shelly has been playing beautifully with other dogs and is afraid of cats.

She may be one of the most affectionate dogs you have ever met. She would happily lie in your lap until the moment you are ready to get up and then she will obediently move. She is playful, but not overly hyper. A little bit on the shy side, but not at all fearful. She has captured the imagination of everyone she has met. On the day she left the veterinary clinic where she had been staying, the entire staff cried hysterically. While they knew it was time to for Shelly to find a forever home, they told me that she took a piece of their hearts with her. Everyone who has met her since coming to New England is head over heels in love.

We can't say enough about this girl. She will train beautifully as she lives to please and she will give you more love and affection than you can ever imagine without ever being an overly needy dog. She crates well and is just a happy go lucky girl.

Please come and meet Shelly- she is more beautiful than you can imagine in real life and she has waited so long for her happy ending. We promise you you won't regret it!

Adoption donation $400.

Canyon - ADOPTED!

See a picture of Canyon (now named Gozer) all grown up on Our Pack page!

Meet Canyon (AKA The Grand Canyon)!  Canyon is a Blue Fawn American Pit Bull Terrier / American Staffordshire Terrier mix.  He is approximately five or six months (as of May 14), neutered, micro-chipped, up to date on all his shots and very excited to find his new family!

He knows sit, down, stay, heal, and I am completely potty trained!  I am the best “stay-er” my foster mom has ever seen.  I can even stay sitting in front of my food bowl for as long as I am told before told to dig in!  I am a total snuggle bug and snuggled my way right into my foster mom and dad’s bed and have been sleeping cuddled up with them every night.  I get along great now with all dogs big and small!  I am still a puppy though, and a bully breed pup, so my new mom or dad needs to have experience or a very clear understanding of the breed and our special requirements.  My foster mom and dad tell me that they would keep me if they had the room, I am just that great!  I am medium energy for a pittie and am just the sweetest, cutest little boy.  I will likely be on the small side for my breed.  My foster mommy calls me a Pocket Pit.

Canyon’s adoption fee is $300.  A home visit will be required, in addition to introductions with any other household pets.  Canyon will receive a 50% discount off any care (pet sitting, dog walking, doggie day trips) with Outbound Hounds (www.obhounds.com) for the rest of his life.

Meet Bree - ADOPTED!

Bree is a spayed female American Bulldog / Great Dane mix (maybe even some dalmation thrown in!) who is now about 11 months old. She was a cruelty case that came into the Memphis Humane Society when she was just six weeks old.  Someone (it is suspected it was most likely a gang initiation) cut off Bree's right rear leg and then threw her tiny mutilated body into a trash dumpster.  Some children playing nearby heard Bree crying and went and got their parents, who called the police and got her out of the dumpster.  Bree had to undergo emergency surgery that day to amputate the rest of her rear leg and she actually died on the operating table but the veterinarian brought her back to life! Now Bree runs like the wind and loves to play on three legs!  She is very affectionate and loveable.  Bree would be fine living with another dog but probably just one other as she has shown signs of doggie aggression which is most likely a result of not being properly socialized wiht her siblings.  She is housetrained on a routine and is crate-trained if she doesn't have to be left in the crate for more than 8 hours straight. Bree would love to have a family that can spend loads of time with her and instill in her heart that she's finally safe and loved forever!

    Lila - ADOPTED!

Lila is a very lucky girl - she was in a home where she was not being treated very nicely by her owner and someone who knew him (and her) decided to save her.

Lila is the perfect dog for anyone who wants a dog that will demonstrate unconditional loyalty and think the world revolves around their owner. She is anxious to please and just an absolute doll of a dog! Lila is completely housetrained, rides well in the car, and has made tremendous strides with her crating. Lila rides beautifully in the car.

Her previous home was a nightmare, so she will often crouch to the ground when someone new approaches. The last few weeks have really helped Lila in this area. The more positive reactions she has with people, the more she is learning that her terrible life is over and she does not need to worry that people are going to hurt her anymore.

Lila has a strong prey instinct, so we are going to say no cats for this girl.
This dog deserves her Cinderella happy ending and we are hopeful that someone out there will fall in love with her mesmerizing eyes and spirit. This is one special little girl...

Lila is up to date on her vaccinations and is spayed.
